Bayly's OMNIPlexer provides the ideal solution for voice/data/video access as used in intelligent traffic systems and rail transportation.

The diagram above shows a section of a highway or rail communications system. These networks must support a variety of traffic types, including voice (station to station calling, maintenance, mobile radio), signaling systems, traffic movement (road crossings, motion sensors) and security video. The transmission medium is typically microwave radio or optical fibre cable. Bayly's OMNIPlexer equipment will support both types of transmission at speeds up to 34 Mbps. Drop/insert multiplexing is used to access circuits at each site along the system and provides both point-to-point and linear point-to-multipoint communications. The Operations Center is where all circuits terminate and all systems are monitored and controlled. OMNIPlexer equipment is used here to terminate the communications system and provide access to all traffic channels. Each roadside/trackside hut contains OMNIPlexer drop/insert equipment providing access to point-to-point and point-to-multipoint channels. Voice, video and signalling/traffic movement systems are supported using appropriate analog and digital channel units. Multipoint analog and/or digital channel units are used to support data collection and monitoring systems.
