Pipeline networks require legacy voice, data, video and SCADA traffic to be carried over a microwave or fiber optic network. Multiplexers provide channelized access to the network for transmission of telephone, computer, SCADA, telemetry, mobile radio and other voice/data traffic. The OMNIPlexer provides this functionality through use of appropriate voice, data and cross-connect units.
The diagram above shows a section of a typical pipeline network. The Operations Center is a terminal station where administration is headquartered. All circuits terminate here. Drop Sites are remote stations and utilize the OMNIPlexer in the drop/insert mode. The drop site in the lower right is a spur line and is supported using OMNIPlexer, OMNIBranch cross connect capability. The network shows a SCADA Master Station at the Operations Center in communication with remote terminal units (RTU's) at all Pumping Stations. The Master Station and all RTU's communicate on a single polling channel using the OMNIPlexer's multipoint interfaces.
Maintenance voice communication is supported using the OMNIPlexer's voice conferencing interfaces, again using a single communications channel. Security video is transported using wide-band Nx64 Kbps data interfaces. A variety of voice and data services are also supported including PC connectivity (using low speed data interfaces), public network interconnection and mobile radio dispatch system.
